Pritam Singh is the Director General of International Management Institute, India. Previously, he has been the Director of Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon, India (1994–1998 and 2003–2006), and Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow (IIML), India (1998–2003).

As the chairman and member of several policymaking committees and bodies of Government of India, he has stamped his perspective on policy issues that surround both management education and corporate management in India. As a consultant, Dr Singh has worked with more than 200 CEOs in India and abroad and conducted more than 100 retreats for the top management of both private- and public-sector organizations as well as multinational corporations.
As an academic administrator, Dr Singh’s record is unparalleled. With his entrepreneurial vision and path-breaking innovative methods, Dr Singh turned around the fortunes of both MDI (where he was director in the periods 1994–1998 and 2003–2006) and IIML (1998–2003), and, quite fittingly, earned the repute of being the “Midas Touch” director.

He has also published over 60 research papers in various national and international journals. 1. Chairman, Sub-committee on Institutional Management and Leadership Development in Higher Education, Planning Commission of India (for Twelfth Five Year Plan, 2012–2017).
2. Member, Banking Selection Board (for selecting chairperson, managing directors, and executive directors).
3. Member, Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India committee on leadership building for the Indian Administrative Services officers.
4. Member, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India committee for the capacity building of Indian Police Service officers.
5. Member, Tenth Five Year Plan for Higher Education.
His distinguished services were acknowledged by the country when the President of India conferred on him the prestigious Padma Shri in 2003 for excellence in education. It was for the first time that any professor and a serving director of a management institute in India received this coveted award in the field of management education.
Dr Singh is an MCom (Gold Medalist), Banaras Hindu University (BHU); PhD in Management, BHU; DLit, UP Technical University; and Fulbright Fellow, Kelley School of Management, Bloomington, Indiana, USA.
